Facul-Tea: The Book of Ruth

This was a very interesting experience event. This event was mostly about the biblical story of Ruth and Naomi. Naomi and her husband and two sons left Bethlehem because a harsh famine had hit their village. So they had to migrate to the Mo-op village nearby. Then Naomi had her two sons marry Mo-op women named Oprah and Ruth. Then ten years later all three men died so they went back to bethlehem. To make a long story short Ruth as a baby by her dead husbands cousin to give to Naomi.

Power point workshop

The workshop I went to was located in the library's computer lab. The workshop was on the proper ways to use Microsoft PowerPoint. At this workshop he taught the new improvements from PowerPoint 2003 to PowerPoint 2007. Not only did the instructor show use the new advancements and the new features, he also told us different techniques to make good PowerPoint presentations. One thing I took away from this workshop was how to only use 6 sentences of six words or less, or four sentences with ten words or less. I will keep this in mind the next time i need to make a PowerPoint. I am sure I am going to use this some point in my career.

Robert Quinn and the Scholars at Risk

The experience event I went to was presented by a scholar named Robert Quinn. Quinn is from a program called Scholars at Risk, which help scholars in other countries when they get into trouble with the law. For example, one scholar from Pakistan had to deal with a threat of his son's kidnapping. Scholars at Risk help relocate him to a country where he can continue his research and reports. I have learned that in foreign countries many scholars are required to send in their reportings to the government for sensorship. Also many scholars face threats from both government and non-government parties. Some scholars actually get arrested for what their reports are about, or sometimes they might even get assassinated.
